If he was published by credible publisher with access to the market, his book should be available at major bookseller sites without question. Find out who the publisher is. If it's himself or a self-publishing house, it's worthless and will never sell or amount to anything without a considerable pre-existing ready-to-buy audience. If Mr. Sinclair had already been blogging for a couple years, that might be the case, but alas it is not. He may, over time, gain that audience, and sell some books, but even then it must get picked up by a publisher with access to major booksellers for publisher/blog marketing effort to really yield anything.

Michael,

Thanks for the reply. To me, it just seems he lacks credibility without selling on other channels outside his own website. The book cannot be found in Barnes and Nable either. It has an ISBN and everything, and I have a copy, so I know it exists. His blog is at www.adlinsinclair.com, if you care to check it out.

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks, Steve. Fresh Yields is a great name and the site looks fresh with the green plant images. I think Amazon has been passed by in a sense. They are not even remotely the center of the publishing or even book-selling universe any longer. To be honest, I now buy more books from Barnes & Noble.

If your client has just now started blogging, don't hold your breath. It takes time for a blog to gain any momentum. If your client is being published, the marketing of the book by the publishing company should involve promoting the blog, which in turn promotes the book by giving people a healthy dose of the writer.

Thanks for stopping by!

Michael,

Interesting commentary. How do you feel Amazon fits into the self-publishing world? They take a hefty commission for selling through them, and some, like a client of mine, feel it is too much. Meanwhile, my client has started blogging daily, but this is not leading to any sales on his website. I feel that one has to be on Amazon to establish credibility at the expense of profit, at least until popularity increases.
