Nice to see the Wall Street Journal confirming something many people already knew (and that many more are wondering about): small business blogging is worth it, but requires a bit of patience. This WSJ article nicely compliments my multipart series of short posts on how to start a business blog.
Spotlinking is something new I’m trying out. I don’t like that I’m sitting on top of some of my best links until the end of the week when I post the Better Blogging Link Blast. Some of them, like this one, I want to get out the door now. Expect to see more of these short, single link posts.

Hey Martine,
Maybe that should be the new blogging mantra … instead of content is king, it should be “patience is king”.
It takes time, hard work and creativity to build a successful blog. I think a lot of people get discouraged easily and just give up when 6 months down the road lies real progress.
@Shane, yes it does take longer than we’d like. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in all my years of blogging is to stick with it and don’t give up no matter what. I tell people you gotta give it two years of doing the right things at the right times before you’ll really know if it’s gonna work.
I agree, its takes patience and hard work whenever you start any new business, whether its online or not.
Some people fall for the whole get-rich-quick thing or believe that because it’s online, that the fundamentals are somehow different, when of course they are not.
