Break Out of Blogger’s Block:
Say Something Nice!

break through blogger's blockOne no-fail method for breaking out of blogger’s block is to pick another blog that you really like and say nice things about it.

Seriously, that’s it.

Simple, really. And it works, every time.

Now, you might hate me for this, but I never have any trouble coming up with things to blog about. But as I was writing my post 5 Other Remarkabloggers You Should Know About, it struck me what an easy, simple formula this was for a post! I realized that even if you were completely stuck in the doldrums of blogger’s block, you could always pick another blog to say something nice about. It’s like an instant post formula!

Has your mother ever told you that if you couldn’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all? This is really the same idea, but flipped on its side: if you can’t say anything at all, say something nice! :D Not only is this a sure-fire method to come up with an idea for a blog post, you will also make somebody’s day!

I wrote about how one can overcome blogger’s block not too long ago at Fresh Perspectives.

But Michael, do you have your point here, and it’s a fresh idea (at least to me) :D

This might be a great way to fight against blogger blocks but will it actually make our readers become bored with this technique if we do this frequently?

@Wayne: that’s a possibility, but I think we can rely on most bloggers’ common sense to not overdo it, don’t you? Even so, consider a site like Boing Boing, which is one of the world’s most popular blogs. Most of what they post is basically saying “here is something cool, check it out!” Their critical posts are fewer. Mostly, they are just saying nice things about stuff they really like. They’re just twenty times cooler than the rest of us. ;)
