Beet.tv has a wonderful small-dog story about a New Jersey wine merchant who has been creating daily wine-tasting videos. He outranks big names like Wine Spectator and gets twice their traffic.
Really shows the power of niche video!
Here’s the kicker: he’s been doing this for two years. That’s a lotta video.

Every day.. that is A LOT of work. Good for him, I hope the traffic converts!
Is this your “Spread the Thunder” entry? ;o)
@Jay – I had to look up what you were talking about… so I guess not.
Nothing like a good contest to boost subscribers, but I’m not interested. I’m a beer man, anyways.
Ah, so you’re more of a Diggnation type. ;o)
Gary’s got quite a personality – a great show, even for non-drinkers. BTW, nice work on the Yastrow stuff.
Digg-what?
Thanks for the compliment. Much appreciated.
What a great find Michael, talk about becoming a BIG fish in a small pond.
That’s a truly excellent example of using technology to connect with a niche market in a very human & very personal way. Have a great weekend.
@Marti – Thanks! Of course the real credit goes to Beet.tv for the original story, but there was such an inspirational lesson in it for video bloggers that I just had to post it.
PS – where’s your blog?
Michael – thanks for that treat. You know I love experimenting with video and how to use it to enhance the reader experience – keep it coming. Love David and Goliath stories too – hooray for the little guys!
That’s a lot of wine too Michael. It sounds like it’s paying off for him though.
thats awesome, drinking for a living =)
