What do Anita Bruzzese, Brian Clark, Lorelle VanFossen, Chris Garrett, Muhammad Saleem, David Bullock, Chris Brogan, Liz Strauss, Dr. Rob Wolcott, and Ari Garber all have in common? They’re teaching/presenting at SOBcon this May in Chicago, and I’m going to be there.
This is going to be my first blogging conference, and really, I don’t think I could’ve picked a better one. I can’t wait to meet everyone in the flesh and get to know them better as real people. The conference is limited to only 250 people, and yet it’s quite affordable, as these things go, at only $450 for admission.
What is SOBcon all about?
Well, first of all, it doesn’t stand for what you think it does!
It’s based on Liz Strauss’ Successful and Outstanding Blog program. For those of you who aren’t aware of this, Liz is big in the blogosphere. Like, really big. As in Much Bigger than Me But I Hope to Merely Touch the Hem of Her Robe Big.
Here’s the skinny:
About Biz School for Bloggers
Using a unique Presentation/Workshop model, we’ll push theory into practice – the conference is designed to build solid action plans tailored to attendee’s individual needs. Each speaker will present a 20-minute talk with a direct business application. Then six-person “mastermind” teams will work together to establish actionable objectives for that part of their business. Through this process, attendees will compile and build a complete Business Action Plan by the end of the day.
That sounds awesome!
Why should you go?
I can answer that in three words: networking, networking, networking! Getting to meet some of my favorite bloggers, swap business cards with people, and meet new people are the reasons to go. I have no doubt I’ll learn tons from the interactive style of the workshops, but really it’s all about the people. You could be one of those people!
Going?
So… are you going? If you are, gimme a shout in the comments! If you haven’t really thought about it or didn’t know about it, I suggest you check it out and register!

Great Michael! Glad you are coming! We look forward to meeting you in person! We attended last year and it was a GREAT experience!
Yeah, it will be wonderful to meet so many people in person!
I’m very excited and looking forward to it.
Michael Martine!
I look at this blog and realize what a loser I am. How have you got this far without me giving an SOB? I’m fixing that situation.
The hem of my robe . . . my husband will be laughing into next week over that!
Thank you for the wonderful write up.
@ Liz - LOL, it’s like we’ve been walking on opposite sides of the river, waiting for a bridge! Nice to make contact with you! From what I hear you are anything but a loser.
Hi Michael! Thanks for the SOBCon love - I look forward to meeting you in Chicago. And Liz is right - this is one great blog here! I’m subscribing as we speak. See you soon.

I’ll be there too Michael. I’m attending as well.

Check it out and get listed!
As well, a page has been added to link all of the blog posts about SOBCon. I’ve taken the liberty of adding this one as the first.

Hi Michael,
Just registered this weekend!
I was there last year and I can tell you it was a total, I mean total, blast!
Look forward to meeting you. Heck, we’re only a few hours away from each other, but we have to go to Chicago to meet…go figure!
Keep up the great work.
On a side note…I hope my branding words pass the test
