Blog Action Day: Fight Poverty by Registering for the Blog Traffic Seminar and I’ll Donate up to $800

Poverty is a constant global epidemic that threatens us all with diminished humantiy if we do not constantly make concerted efforts to alleviate it. But we are all aware that “just” giving money to people in need provides only a temporary fix. It does not address the root cause, nor does it do anything to increase abundance for an entire economy.

I believe in providing opportunity for others. It’s something I put into practice regularly here on Remarkablogger. Blog Action Day is an annual event where thousands of bloggers across the world attempt to raise awareness and take action on a single cause. Each year, on a single day, participating bloggers unite in posting about a single cause. Today is that day, October 15, 2008, and the cause is poverty.

I want to make the opportunity exponential, by providing opportunities for all of us to help with this global crisis, but have everyone get something out of it at the same time. Here’s the deal:

For each person who registers for the upcoming Growing Blog Traffic Teleseminar, I will donate $10 to Kiva.org. There are 50 spots available in the seminar, so that means if all 50 spots fill up, I will donate at least $500.

Why do I say at least $500? Because if all 50 spots are taken, I will add an additional $300 to my donation, making my total donation to Kiva $800.

Kiva is a micro-lending organization that fosters the entrepreneurial spirit in places around the globe that need help. What is a very small amount of money to many of us is enough to finance a start-up business for someone, somewhere, who wants to support a family and live out the dream of being a self-made person. These are loans, not donations, and they’re for fostering enterprise, so that people can earn their own money. As a self-proclaimed “liberal capitalist” I like that idea.

You can do your part to help in the fight against poverty and get a killer seminar on how to grow your blog’s traffic at the same time.
